About Pinhead

UPDATED 10 OCT 2026

Pinhead is for anyone with a list of places to get through: the Munros, the Wainwrights, every county top in Ireland, or a list of your own. You see the list on a map, plan days out, and tick places off as you go. How Pinhead works shows it step by step, and if your places are in Google My Maps, you can bring them over.

Who makes it

Pinhead is a small app made by Steven Hylands in Northern Ireland. It's free while it's being tested. To get in touch, email hello@pinhead.app.

Where the lists come from

The hill lists (the Munros, Corbetts, Grahams, Marilyns, Wainwrights, Irish county tops and the rest) are loaded from The Database of British and Irish Hills, used under its CC BY 4.0 licence. Pinhead keeps a selection of its fields: each hill's name, position, height and drop. The national parks and World Heritage Sites come from Wikidata. Every list names its source, and the version it was loaded from, under its title.

Place photos come from Wikimedia Commons, and the maps are drawn from OpenStreetMap data. The terms give the full credits.

Lists made by other people

Anyone with an account can publish one of their own maps as a list. Those lists carry their maker's name, and the places and words on them are the maker's own.

If something's wrong

Heights get resurveyed and lists get revised. If a place, a height or a list looks wrong, email hello@pinhead.app and say which list and which place.
